Island Essence (New Hampshire Lakes Region)

This cozy island home is the perfect escape, providing a restful space after a day of boating on the lake or spending time outdoors. Its log cabin structure, wooded surroundings, and panoramic views of Mount Washington called for an interior that celebrated the outdoors. The rich hues of autumn were selected to compliment the deep gold of the pine walls and floors while providing a salute to New Hampshire’s most glorious of seasons. The cabin was already imbued with a rustic feel thanks to the wood and stone from the massive fireplace, so other textures were layered on in the leather of the deep brown sofa, the patina of polished tables, the glass of hurricane lamps, and the metal of lamps cleverly designed to look like tree silhouettes. The bedrooms are a study in simplicity, with wooden dressers and clean white linens on the beds. Pat boldly painted sections of the pine walls to bring in the soothing colors of nature and brighten the space. Each bed also has a unique headboard--from wicker to carved wood to metal in an Asian design--giving each room its own stamp of individuality.
